ItalyThe current Italian flag was adopted on June 19, 1946. There are several theories explaining the meaning and history of the green, white and red colors. One exposition states that the colors of the Italian flag may have been based off of the military uniforms from Milan. Another one suggests that Napoleon Bonaparte replaced the blue of the French flag with green because he preferred that particular color.

The Former Yugoslav Republic of MacedoniaThe Macedonian flag was adopted on October 5, 1995. The sun design is a one version of the Star of Vergina, which was on Macedonia's former national flag. The color red has been an influential color throughout the history of Macedonia. The sun also symbolizes"the sun of liberty", which is mentioned in the country's national anthem.
